Experienced Automotive Controller for Auto Dealership

Controller for Auto Dealership in San Francisco, CA. We're seeking a Automotive Dealership Controller to manage the financial functions of our dealerships. The Controller manages general accounting, property accounting and back-office functions and is responsible for the accurate and timely distribution of internal and external financial statements, monthly project reports and annual audits. Experience with CDK DMS system is a big plus.



  • Overseeing the financial and accounting system and personnel
  • Manages daily operations of the accounting department, cashiers and receptions
  • Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing
  • Reconcile the bank accounts for the company on a daily basis
  • Complete all required reports for the corporate office on a regular basis
  • Preparing monthly budgets and financial statements
  • Forecasting financial goals for each quarter to maintain the dealership's profitability
  • Processing all insurance claims and liability insurance
  • Reviewing all financial statements and ledgers, and working with the accounting staff to clear up any discrepancies
  • Preparing all taxes and filing forms with the government
  • Meeting with the department managers regularly to go over business matters and develop plans to increase profitability
  • Ensures all Human Resources and payroll functions are operational and works cooperatively with the corporate office to handle employee issues as needed
  • Assures that required HR training is completed
  • Cross trained in all accounting positions


  • 3-5 years of previous Automotive Controller experience required
  • Previous automotive dealership experience required
  • Controllers should have strong communications, customer service, leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent analytical ability
  • High school diploma is necessary; college or advanced degree preferred
  • Proficiency with CDK, Reynolds & Microsoft Office applications or the equivalent is expected
  • Must have a valid driver's license and travel as necessary

Job Responsibilities
As an Automotive Service Technician, you will carry out repairs and maintenance in a timely and efficient manner, and will coordinate with the Service Advisor to ensure that customers remain fully informed as to the state of their vehicles.
Your specific duties as an Automotive Service Technician will include:

-Diagnosing the cause of malfunctions and performing work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and/or factory standards

-Repairing or replacing all parts of a vehicle including wheels, axles, frames, defective ball joint suspensions and brake shoes; installing and repairing air conditioners and servicing components such as compressors, condensers, and controls; and testing electronic computer components in automobiles to ensure that they are working properly

-Communicating directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed

-Providing an estimate of time needed for additional repairs

-Inspecting and testing new vehicles for damage and recording findings so that necessary repairs can be made

-Supervising and training apprentice or entry-level technicians as required
Job Requirements
Automotive Service Technician -- Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic
As an Automotive Service Technician, you must have strong mechanical skills, solid organizational skills and a high degree of attention to detail. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as a firm commitment to customer service.
Specific qualifications for the Automotive Service Technician position include:

-High school diploma or GED

-2-5 years of experience as an automotive technician

-ASE certification in at least one of the eight automotive specialty 

-Proven history of longevity with previous employers

-Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary

-OEM certifications, a plus

-Third-party training, a plus
